One of the most common questions I'm asked is "what's the difference between an entrepreneur and a plain old "small business" person? To some, it might be a tough question, but not to me. Here's my answer in just one word: passion Lots of folks run small businesses without having a passion for what they do. You know these folks as well as I do - the corner paint store that's been in the same family since your dad was a kid and hasn't done anything different in thirty years. Or the deli at the corner, now run by that kid you went to high school with. These businesses don't thrive and grow, they just get by, and when things all around get tough, they struggle even to do that. But that's not enough for you, is it? You may be starting small, but you see it
as a stepping stone to greater things. I know how you feel, because I feel the
same way.Now let's go back to my one word definition of an entrepreneur: passion. Passion for what you do. For growing your business. For getting the name out so that people know who you are and the wonderful work or service you provide. The passionate entrepreneurs are those people who are never satisfied with the business they are doing and always looking for that something that gets more business, more recognition and increases growth. If this sounds like you, you sound like my kind of entrepreneurs Now here's a "usually" that I put with my definition of entrepreneurs: Usually their passion is for what they do, be it building something, teaching something, helping people or selling products they believe in. Too often, what this passion doesn't cover is the business end of doing business This is where Kamena & Associates, Inc. comes into the picture, providing you a resource for these vital pieces of that business puzzle.
